Cheetah on Alert

I took this photo of a Cheetah that was on high alert while our safari passed through its habitat at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. I liked the profile perspective of its turned head in this shot, and I converted the background to b/w to highlight the markings of its coat, creating a more dramatic image. Tragically, these magnificent animals are among the many threatened species hovering on the brink of extinction. It may be that in the foreseeable future, photos may be the only remaining evidence of their existence.
